Historical Society of Long Beach celebrates its 50th anniversary

**Historical Society of Long Beach members, donors and volunteers during the organization's 50th anniversary celebration last week at Parkers' Lighthouse**

The Queensview Steakhouse and Parkers’ Lighthouse hosted a birthday party last week for the Historical Society of Long Beach (HSLB), celebrating its 50th year of preserving Long Beach’s history for current and future generations.
In attendance were HSLB members, donors, friends and volunteers. Guests viewed a slide show chronicling the organization’s history and heard from HSLB co-president Evan Anderson Braude. Treasured HSLB items were featured in a fundraising raffle.

“We thank Parkers’ Lighthouse for their generous support and for helping us celebrate the Historical Society of Long Beach’s 50th anniversary in such style,” said Kristi Fischer, co-president of the Historical Society of Long Beach.
Parkers’ main dining room walls feature Long Beach historical photos that came from HSLB’s collection.
“We are proud to have two restaurants here in Long Beach and are even more proud to be a part of this community,” said the restaurants’ general manager Michael Cole. “It was our honor to host this celebration for an organization that is dedicated to preserving this great city’s history.”
Over the past 50 years, the HSLB has published books, developed exhibitions, preserved thousands of historical documents and images for use by researchers and held hundreds of events that explore and celebrate the history of Long Beach. Today, 700 members and donors support the HSLB’s mission.
The HSLB, located at 4260 Atlantic Ave., is open to the public five days a week: Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 1pm to 5pm, Thursdays 1pm to 7pm and Saturdays from 11am to 5pm.
