On Thursday, October 15, OASIS, an organization dedicated to enriching the lives of mature adults and seniors through education programs, joined AT&T to offer free cell phone training for 32 Lakewood seniors. The effort was designed to help educate the mature adults on how to use their mobile phones more effectively and feel more comfortable with the technology.
The unique training program provided one-on-one coaching sessions with AT&T representatives who answered questions and coached participants on how to use more of their cell phones’ features. For many, learning the basic tasks, like saving phone numbers and setting up speed-dial numbers, can be a tremendous help, especially in emergency situations.
“I learned how to use voice commands, camera, speakerphone and the navigation system,” said OASIS member Nita Ballard. “The AT&T representative was so good and helpful. I am so glad I came.”
“We are thrilled to help individuals of all ages and backgrounds learn how to utilize the latest technology to stay connected with their families and friends,” said Creasie James, AT&T External Affairs. “Thanks to our partnership with OASIS, we are able to meet with seniors firsthand to help them get the most out of their wireless devices.”
